Amber is a first-year student studying Translation and Interpreting with French and Spanish at UEA. She is from Lincolnshire in the UK and decided to volunteer for SAAM as she was eager to develop skills in subtitling and gain experience with a cause that makes resources more accessible. In her free time, she enjoys art history and jogging in the countryside.

Léo is a 20-year-old French student on a year abroad at UEA. He's studied ‘English Linguistics, Literature and Culture’ for two years at the Université Lyon 3 and is now at UEA for a year as part of the Erasmus programme.

He decided to volunteer for SAAM because he enjoys translating and was interested in discovering audiovisual translation. He also wanted to prepare a little before the beginning of his module ‘Technological Tools for Subtitling and Dubbing’. He likes SAAM because it is a team project, he's not just translating on his own, as he usually does.

In his free time, he loves talking about cinema, politics or technology.

Paul is a 28-year-old second-year student of Translation, Media Studies, and Languages. He is originally from Holbeach in Lincolnshire and he decided to join the SAAM Project because it will give him experience in subtitling and translating scripts, which could go on to help him in his future career. He speaks two languages fluently and has significant knowledge of another three. In his free time, he enjoys learning languages, playing darts with the Darts society, and going to the gym. He is also a huge Celtic and Holbeach United fan.

Eva is from Austria but is a full-time student at UEA now in her final year studying Japanese. She first volunteered for SAAM when she took project leader Carlos’ module ‘Technological Tools for Media Accessibility’. Since then, she has developed a real passion for subtitling and practises it as a hobby.

She loves collaborating with fellow volunteers and continuously improving her subtitling skills through SAAM. Above all, she loves having the opportunity to create subtitles for real clients that will benefit real people, doing her small bit in making media a little more accessible. She hopes to do subtitling professionally in the future.

James is a native of Norfolk and is studying for a BA in Culture, Literature and Politics at UEA, and his interests are interdisciplinary. He is passionate about volunteering and believes in creating media content that is accessible for all.

Ethan is from Brighton, England and is currently in his third year of studying Translation, Media and French at UEA. He decided to join in with the SAAM project in order to give something back to charities who support people who need it the most. Also, because he is interested in subtitling and wanted to learn from fellow students and make new friends. He is currently in Toulouse for his year abroad and is enjoying meeting new people and practising French.

Emma is French and studies Translation. She stayed at UEA for a semester as an Erasmus student and decided to volunteer for SAAM because she really wanted to use her experience in translation and subtitling to serve a good cause.

Andrea is from Alcalá de Henares, a city in Madrid, Spain. She is currently studying Modern Languages and Translation at the University of Alcalá de Henares. She chose to study Audiovisual Translation in her last year. In this class, the teacher talked about the SAAM project and she found it both interesting and a great opportunity to learn and practice as if it was an original audiovisual translation work. Some of her interests include reading, travelling, cooking, listening to music, and dancing. She loves learning new languages, and she has studied Spanish, English, French, and German.

Soledad is from Badajoz, Spain. She is studying Modern Languages and Translation in the University of Alcalá. She decided to become part of the SAAM project because she thought that translating in a real project was an incredible chance to develop her translating skills, therefore, she could practice. Also, she believes that it is important to take part in it since it is a project to help some charity organisations that need the translation services. She also thinks that it is a great opportunity to develop her subtitling skills and to improve and demonstrate the knowledge she acquired at university. Some of her interests include reading, drawing and writing. She is also passionate about audiovisual and literary translation.

Laura is from Guadalajara, Spain. She is finishing her degree in Modern Languages and Translation at the University of Alcalá de Henares, in Madrid. She decided to join the SAAM Project to learn, practice and gain experience in audiovisual translation. Some of her interests are travelling, drawing, swimming, and learning new languages. She is currently fluent in Spanish, English, French and Italian.

Paula is from León, a city in the north of Spain, although she studies a translation degree at the University of Alcalá, in Madrid. She decided to join the SAAM project because she believes that accessibility to all cultural products, entertainment and information is key to constructing a better society. Paula also wanted to have a real-life experience of how audiovisual translation works. Paula’s interests also include enjoying audiovisual media and learning about other cultures and ways of life. She is also passionate about languages and speaks Spanish, English, German, and a bit of Portuguese.

Nuria comes from a small city called Talavera de la Reina, in Spain. She is currently studying Modern Languages and Translation at the University of Alcalá, in Madrid. She decided to join the SAAM project to gain some real experience in the field of audiovisual translation, one of the options she is considering for the future, and because she believes that the association’s work to promote the accessibility of audiovisual products is necessary to improve as a society. Some of her interests include reading, watching comedy TV shows, cooking or travelling. She loves learning new languages and practising them by talking to people from all over the world. She speaks Spanish, English and German.

Andrea comes from a small town called Monreal del Campo, in Teruel (Spain), but she is finishing her degree in Modern Languages and Translation at the University of Alcalá de Henares, in Madrid. She decided to join the SAAM Project to gain experience in audiovisual translation and in the field of accessibility. She believes that it is not fair to exclude people from using services and products or getting the same amount of information that others can access. Some of her interests are watching films and TV series, cooking, learning new languages and travelling. She is currently fluent in Spanish, English and French, but she also studies Portuguese and Italian.
