Support for Access to Audiovisual Media

AN INCLUSIVE AND INNOVATIVE LANGUAGE-LEARNING PROJECT

OUR WORK

''

We are extremely grateful for the work that Carlos and his team at SAAM have done. This will help our museum to be more inclusive for our deaf and hard of hearing visitors.

''

I highly recommend SAAM for this award and hope that you also see the valuable contribution they are making.

We would have no hesitation in recommending SAAM to other museums or similar institutions that also have audiovisual content that would benefit from the addition of subtitles.

''

SAAM is not only advancing learning by increasing accessibility of educational materials, they are facilitating communication between different cultural and linguistic groups within organisations.

Volunteering with SAAM

Irene talks to Alejandra & Gemma about volunteering for SAAM.

  • "Volunteering as a SAAM Coordinator has afforded me an invaluable opportunity to work alongside local and international organisations, creating a truly positive impact across communities. The skills that I developed have already propelled me in the workplace and provided me with a strong foundation of organisation and communication. Furthermore, getting to know the other Project Coordinators and volunteers has been a privilege, and I am honoured to have encountered so many talented individuals of different languages and backgrounds!"

Lola Hopkins, UEA SAAM Project Coordinator and Student on the MA in Applied Translation Studies.

  • "The SAAM Project has been an invaluable experience that has allowed me to refine my translation, coordination, and subtitling skills, as well as having the opportunity to work with so many other talented volunteers and coordinators as we strive to make the world more accessible one video at a time. I am so grateful for the skills that the SAAM Project has given me, which will no doubt go on to help me immensely in my future career."

Soeli Leverett, UEA SAAM Project Coordinator and Student on the MA in Applied Translation Studies.

  • “Working with the SAAM Project has given me such invaluable experience in the audiovisual translation sector that I could never get from my classes at university. The chance to work with real clients, and to see the impact our work is having on what their causes do, is so rewarding. I have also been able to build up a number of other soft skills that I know will help my career going forward, so I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities SAAM has given me."
