UEA Team

  • Hajar Ben Bouazza

    Hajar is a PhD candidate at Universitat Jaume I (Spain) and University Abdelmalek Essaadi (Morocco), conducting research under the title Dubbing Cartoons into Moroccan Arabic: A Guide Proposal for Researchers and Professionals. Her goal is to develop the first comprehensive dubbing guide in Moroccan Arabic, with potential applicability to Modern Standard Arabic and broader adoption across the Arab world.

    She holds a background in translation and served as a sworn translator for four years. Passionate about languages, Hajar is fluent in Arabic, French, and English, has conversational proficiency in German, and remains committed to expanding her linguistic repertoire. Recognizing a significant shortage of audiovisual translators in her country, she is eager to refine her expertise in this field. To support this aim, she joined the SAAM project as a volunteer, contributing her skills and advancing her research objectives.

  • Blanca Crespo

    Blanca is a Language and Communications exchange student at UEA from Zaragoza (Spain) where she is studying English Studies at UNIZAR and speaks both Spainsh and English fluently. Blanca has always been passionate about languages and thinks SAAM is a great opportunity to learn and grow in a multicultural environment. Blanca wanted to join the project because she is taking an audiovisual translation module next semester in her home university and doesn't want to miss the chance to practice and start developing the skills now. In the future, Blanca would really like to work in the field of translation or interpreting and thinks this project is the perfect fit for her. 

  • Irene Gómez Alberto

    After graduating in English Studies at the University of Zaragoza and completing a master's degree in Audiovisual Translation at the European University of Valencia, Irene is doing an internship at a dubbing studio in Barcelona. She joined the SAAM project as an Erasmus student back in 2022 and has since collaborated in this and many other translation projects. Outside of uni, Irene likes to travel, subtitle videos about translation, and make stop-motion films with LEGOs.

  • Xiaoli Ziu

    Xiaoli, a graduate in Applied Translation Studies with a specialism in EN-CH translation, is delighted to rejoin the SAAM community. With an academic foundation and a strong passion for subtitling, she is eager to further hone her practical skills with professional tools. Xiaoli is a firm believer in collaborative spirit and pays close attention to detail. She looks forward to contributing to projects and growing with the talented team at SAAM.

  • Maohong Yuan

    Maohong recently completed the 2024-2025 academic year in Applied Translation Studies at UEA, focusing on English and Chinese. During this time, she developed her translation skills through various coursework and practical projects, including working on a subtitling translation project with SAAM. Before this, her undergraduate degree was in a non-language field, and she had not formally studied translation. However, after discovering translation’s unique charm as both a linguistic art and a bridge between cultures, she became deeply interested in it. Maohong joined SAAM to gain more hands-on experience and further hone her skills. She looks forward to continuing her development through this opportunity, contributing to the team, and applying what she has learned in real-world projects.

  • Natalia Martínez Camacho

    Natalia is a visiting student from Mexico. She is in her last year of her undergraduate degree of 'Translation' at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. She is specializing in the fields of Audiovisual and Scientific Translation. Natalia wants to be part of the SAAM Project not only to keep practicing her knowledge in subtitling, but also to help charitable and non-profit organizations. She has participated in similar translation projects at her home university to help organizations and people with different needs. She wants to keep taking part in projects that have a  social impact.  

  • Inés Cabrera Guerra

    Inés is a visiting student from Spain. She is in her third year of Translation and Interpreting English-French in the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. She wanted to join SAAM because she sees it as a wonderful oportunity to enter the world where she wants to be professional in, that is subtitling. She has always enjoyed watching films and series in other languagues, and imagining how it is transmited what is said from one languague to another. That is why she wanted to study languagues, because for her, languagues and their different cultures are the key for communication and understanding. She also sees this oportunity as a big step into the professional world, individually and as a team, and also as a great chance to personal growth.

  • Zara Owen

    Zara is a recent graduate from the University of Nottingham who graduated in French Studies. She was fortunate enough to have spent a year studying in the Université Grenoble Alpes for a year and has begun volunteering for the SAAM Project after studying Subtitling and Dubbing in her final year at university. Looks forward to help make a difference and use her specialised skills in subtitling with the organisation. In her spare time she likes to learn new languages, and during her whole time in education, she has studied six difference languages! 

  • Clarice Marchal

    Clarice is a student from UEA currently studying Translation and Interpretation Spanish-French. She is in her final year, and she enjoyed the subtitling module in her 2nd year. This pushed her to volunteer for the SAAM project because she thought it would be a good opportunity to gain experience and have a better understanding of how subtitling work functions. She wishes to gain more skills in the audiovisual domain as it is an ever growing industry.  

  • Marnie Say

    Marnie is a second year student at UEA studying Spanish with Management Studies. She has always appreciated the efforts others go to in order to learn second languages, and knows from personal experience how subtitling helps the process of this! Also, Marnie is due to study a subtitling and translation module in her second semester and is keen to better her skills and practice more through the SAAM project. 

  • Mimi Weller

    Mimi is a second year French student at the University of East Anglia. She is currently taking a module on technological tools for media accessibility, where she is learning to understand and create subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. This experience has been both interesting and eye-opening, inspiring her to make translations more accessible through the SAAM project. By volunteering with the project, Mimi hopes to further develop her skills in subtitling and translation - two areas she is eager to explore. 

  • Sara Bernal

    Sara is a Language and Communication exchange student at UEA from Spain, where she is currently in her final year.  Her desired career would be something related to audiovisual translation. When she learned about the SAAM project she thought it would be an excellent opportunity not only to experience working with translation comissions firsthand, but also to support non-profitable organizations and charities and work in a multicultural environment.

  • Francesca Mantecaa

    Francesca is currently studying Translation and Interpreting Spanish-French at UEA. She is a first year student from Italy and will be studying at UEA her entire degree. She decided to join the SAAM project beacuse she wanted to gain experience in translation and subtitling, as well as help 

  • Eva Berry

    Eva is a second year student at UEA, studying BA Translation, Media and a Modern Language (Spanish). She decided to join the SAAM Project as translation is a large part of her degree and she hoped that taking part would also help her prepare for her year abroad next year. Currently, translating is her favourite aspect of learning languages and is a possible career she would like to pursue in the future. She was also interested by the Subtitling and Dubbing modules available for her final year of study and would like to gain experience in this field in preparation for these modules.

  • Bianna Gaillard

    Bianna is a final year BA Modern Langauges (Spanish and Japanese) student at UEA, and has returned from studying abroad at ICU in Tokyo, Japan. She has previously volunteered for SAAM in her second year of study, and is excited to volunteer once again. Bianna really enjoys subtitling, she is currently taking her second subtitling class at UEA (Technological  Tools for  Media Accessibilty). Being in her final year, she has started to think about life after uni, considering a career either in subtitling and dubbing, or as modern langauges teacher in the UK.

  • Kendra Payne

    Kendra is currently studying for a BA(Hons) in History. She is passionate about accessibility, especially within the Hertiage Sector, and is keen to learn about the process of subtitling videos. In her free time, Kendra loves reading and visiting new places. 

  • Paula Mizerska

    Paula Irene Mizerska is an exchange student from the University of Alcalá in Spain, currently studying at UEA.  She is in her last year of her undergraduate degree in Modern Languages and Translation. Additionally, she speaks Polish and has intermediate French skills. Excited to join the project, Paula is eager to contribute to media accessibility and looks forward to learning and growing through the experience.

  • Robin Bach

    Robin Bach is a Translation, Media and Modern language student going to UEA, that is currently in his final year of University. His chosen language of study is Japanese and he has just returned from his study abroad to Japan where he attended Waseda University in Tokyo. Robin has had an interest in all things translation since the start of his first year and is excited to have an opportunity to get more involved and learn more about subtitling. He is also currently taking Technological Tools for Media Accessibility at UEA and is excited to improve his skills at subtitling. He is looking forward to be able to help make a difference while also gaining experience in a field he cares deeply about.

  • Dominik Wątroba

    Dominik is a former SAAM coordinator and visiting student at UEA. He holds a BA in Polish Language in Social Communication. Currently, he is pursuing a master's degree in Advanced English Studies at the University of Valencia in Spain; he is preparing a dissertation titled Subtitling in Anglophone Countries – Guidelines, Resources, and Preferences Among Native and EFL Speakers. In his free time, he volunteers as a subtitler and reviewer for the TED Translators scheme.

    Dominik continues working for SAAM to contribute towards media accessibility and gain more insights into the fields of AVT and MA. His working languages are primarily English and Polish. In the future, he would like to undertake doctoral studies at UEA and research issues connected with the process of reading subtitles, including cognitive processes and eye-tracking.

  • Elisa Carmier

    Elisa is a visiting student from the University of Lorraine and she is currently in her last year of her undergraduate degree in LLCER (Modern Languages). Her working languages are French, English and Italian. Elisa also has some knowledge of Mandarin and is learning French Sign Language. She joined the SAAM project as a volunteer in 2024 to improve her translation skills and put them to good use in the audiovisual sector, but also to do her bit to help make media more accessible. She looks forward to being a part of the project again and gaining more experience in translation and subtitling. In her free time, Elisa loves travelling, baking, reading historical novels and listening to music of all kinds. 

  • Walter Keegan

    Walter was a BA Modern Languages student at UEA, and is now studying an MA in Translation at UCL! He is continuing as a volunteer this semester and is really looking forward to getting started! Outside of university, he loves to explore the outdoors through running, hiking, and mountain biking. He also spends a little too much time sailing on the south coast.

  • Akari Izumi

    Akari is from Japan, and last year she graduated from UEA in Applied Translation course. In her undergraduate studies in Japan, she learned basic translation theories and researched comparative translation between English and Japanese. She wants to be part of the SAAM project as it is a great opportunity to improve her translation skills and contribute to an organisation as a volunteer.

  • Sylvia Draper

    Sylvia is a first year film and tv production student at the university of east anglia. She first wanted to get involved with the SAAM project after attending a talk about accessibility in media. She found learning about the specific ways subtitles are made for people who are deaf/hard of hearing really interesting. She hopes to expand her knowledge and gain experience in media accessibility and inclusion.

  • Amelia Daniels

    Amelia is a second year student at the University of East Anglia. She speaks English, French, Spanish, and a very little bit of German. Her plan after graduation is to do a masters in interpreting and translation, and maybe even start learning another language! She is particularly keen to be working with SAAM as it allows her to use her linguistic abilities to support good causes locally and internationally. 

University of Nottingham

  • Hannah Berkeley

    Hannah is an MA Screen Translation student currently studying at the University of Nottingham. She recently completed her undergraduate degree in BA Liberal Arts with French at Nottingham. She has recently began studying Spanish and hopes to continue this during her MA. She is yet to study abroad but hopes to work for the British Council after completing her studies. She is excited to join the SAAM team as a volunteer and is eager to make a positive impact in the field. Outside of her studies, she is a member of the triathlon society and enjoys cycling as well as working for a local cancer charity. 

  • Eleanor Campbell

    Eleanor is currently a master’s student In Translation and Localisation at the University of Nottingham. She recently completed her undergraduate studies in Spanish and Media Journalism at the University of Swansea, during which she volunteered as an interpreter at a local church, supporting asylum seekers as they learnt English. Eleanor also spent a year abroad studying at La Universidad de Comillas. She has a strong passion for languages, particularly exploring emerging vocabulary from different cultures across Latin America is producing. As well as an interest in languages, she has she enjoys cold-water swimming, bouldering and travelling, hobbies that have brought her closer to the Spanish language in one way or another. Eleanor is looking forward to joining the SAAM team as she will combing her interests with meaningful work that helps improves accessibility for wider audiences.

  • Chlow Cobon

    Chloe is a student at the Univeristy of Nottingham currently studying Translation and Localisation Masters, with Korean. During this masters Chloe has found a love for subtitling for Deaf/hard of hearing and if excited to use these new skills to help as a SAAM volunteer and strenghten these skills. She also has a BA in East Asian studies from the Univeristy of Sheffield. During her time at sheffield Chloe undertook a year abroad in South Korea attending Sookmyung Womens Univeristy in Seoul. In her final year, Chloe's love for Korean culture lead her to be the Inclusions Officer for the Korean Society where she helped to translate for/communicate with Koreans studying in Sheffield in addition to English speakers, interested in Korean Culture. Chloe's love of learning languges lead her to study French in her final year of study at begginer level. Outside of Univeristy, Chloe has a love of syncronised iceskating which she took part in for 10years, supporting her team at competitions around the UK and Europe, while also being the co-captian for 1year.

  • Emily Morris

    Emily is an MA Translation and Localisation Student from the University of Nottingham. She completed her undergraduate degree in BA Modern Languages (French and Spanish) at the University of Nottingham and spent her year abroad in Nice for 8 months, working as an English Language Assistant, and she spent a further 4 months in Seville working as a Translation Intern for CBLingua. Emily looks forward to volunteering for SAAM, as it is a great way to contribute to their work, whilst also enabling her to improve her skills in the field of AVT.  In her free time, she enjoys playing Gaelic Football, travelling, keeping active and watching films.

  • Emily Hurst

    Emily is an MA Translation Student from the University of Nottingham specialising in subtitling for the d/Deaf and hard of hearing and audio description. She also completed her undergraduate degree in BA English and French at the University of Nottingham and spent her year abroad studying Japanese at Université Grenoble Alpes. Emily is excited to join the team as a volunteer for SAAM and is eager to strengthen her skills in Audiovisual Translation, whilst also getting to contribute to SAAM's work promoting inclusivity and accessibility. In her spare time, she volunteers as an Archive Assistant and French to English Translator for the University of Nottingham Manuscripts and Special Collections.

  • Alicia de la Cal

    Alicia is from Valladolid, Spain. She is 21 years old and is studying a Master's degree in Audiovisual Translation and Localization. She was taking a course in audiovisual translation when she discovered the SAAM Project. She decided to join so she could learn more about subtitling and to help organizations by making their work reach more people around the world. She is very interested in the teamwork that this project can offer her.

  • Andrea Iria Vargas Navarro

    Andrea is a recent graduate in Modern Languages and Translation from the University of Alcalá. She is currently studying a Master's Degree in Teaching Spanish to Speakers of Other Languages (ELE), also at the UAH. Although her main interest is translation (especially literary and audiovisual translation), she would like to complement this with teaching her mother tongue abroad. She decided to join the SAAM Project to stay in touch with translation and subtitling, perhaps in a more professional way, and with the intention of doing her bit for this initiative. 

  • Ángela Medina Rodríguez

    Ángela is studying Modern Languages and Translation at the University of Alcalá. When she heard about the SAAM Project, she immediately knew it was for her. She has already done language-related volunteer work, so she saw it as a wonderful opportunity to relive such an incredible experience. Ademically, she loves audiovisual translation, and it felt like a unique opportunity to learn while helping others. As a person with a disability, she understands how hard it is to live in a world full of barriers, which is why she wants to help remove as many as possible. She believes that one day everything will be truly accessible to everyone. 

  • Carlos Pardo Pérez

    Carlos is from Madrid and he studies at the University of Alcalá. His interest in collaborating with the SAAM Project comes from his desire to learn about other cultures, the diversity that exists in the world, the problems that people face and to help them solve these issues by offering a greater visibility.  There is also the opportunity to work in English and overcome its professional barriers, as well as being able to acquire new knowledge about transcription, technologies, and audiovisuals, since I have always loved films and documentaries, and can now be a small part of them. In the future, I would like to work as a university researcher and professor in the field of History, hoping to spur on the new technologies through teaching and research work.

  • Chiara Caruso

    Chiara is a fourth-year student of Modern Languages and Translation at the University of Alcalá. She heard about the SAAM Project during a subtitling course taught by Carlos de Pablos in an Audiovisual Translation class. She believes it is a great opportunity to improve her subtitling skills while supporting a good cause. In her free time, she loves reading, playing volleyball, and baking. 

  • Claudia del Saz Escaso

    Claudia is a third-year student from Spain currently studying Modern Languages and Translation (English and French) at the University of Alcalá (UAH). It is her second year taking part in the SAAM Project, which she joined in order to improve her knoweldge of the world of translation and how it works. She loves all aspects of languages, and considering the increased importance of technologies nowadays, she believes that this project is a great opportunity to dive deeper into this field and improve her translation skills. Her other interests include doing sports and listening to rock music, so feel free to ask her for a song recommendation.

  • Inés Martínez Jiménez

    Inés is a third-year student studying Modern Languages and Translation at the University of Alcalá. She is currently on an Erasmus exchange in Dublin. She wanted to join SAAM after attending a workshop that sparked her interest in subtitling. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, watching series, and listening to music. 

  • Jezabel Hidalgo Garcel

    Jezabel Hidalgo Garcel was born in Madrid in 1977, a very distant and different time from today. When she was a child, English classes were not common in school before the age of eleven, but she was curious and eager to learn foreign languages. This is what encouraged her to move to London when she was only 18 years old. Her stay in London was supposed to last three years, but it turned into 15. This remains a fond memory of her adult life. It was not just a time of fun, but also of linguistic and cultural learning. When she thought about returning to Spain, a job offer came up in Ireland, where she has been living for the past 15 years. After living outside her native country for more than 30 years, she decided to start studying and pursue a career in applied languages and translation. At 45 years old, she began studying in Dublin to return to Spain. She is now on an Erasmus exchange in Madrid, completing her final year of university. She wants to return to Spain permanently and find a job for which she has been studying all her life. 

  • Lucía Romero Cordero

    Lucía is a student at the University of Alcalá, where she is studying Modern Languages and Translation. She is particularly interested in audiovisual translation and intercultural mediation. She decided to participate in the SAAM Project because she believes that subtitling is an excellent way of combining linguistic precision and creativity, as well as improving her proficiency in the languages she works with. 

  • Luna Sánchez Ayuso

    Luna is a student of Modern Languages and Translation at the University of Alcalá. She is currently spending a year abroad in Munich, München for the locals. She speaks Spanish and English fluently, and she has an intermediate level in German and French. In her free time, she likes to travel to meet new people and discover new cultures, to read, and to listen to music. 

  • María Muñoz

    María is from a small town in Toledo, and this is her first year of university. She is studying Modern Languages and Translation in Alcalá de Henares. She has loved languages since she was a child and has always wanted to have a profession that involves helping others, but she couldn't find any options she liked related to the use of foreign languages until she attended an audiovisual translation course and heard about the SAAM Project. She realized that her own knowledge of languages could help the deaf community thanks to this project. It also helped her discover that she loves subtitling, so she would like to have a job where she can do this in the future. She volunteered for this project with great enthusiasm and a desire to continue learning, meet other students with similar ambitions, and do her bit. She never thought she would have such a great opportunity to use the languages she is so passionate about in a way that could help society until she knew about SAAM. 

  • Marta González

    Marta is studying her final year of Modern Languages and Translation at the University of Alcalá. Among the elective courses offered, she discovered Audiovisual Translation, a subject that broadened her view of the world of translation and the possible career opportunities in the field. So, when Carlos de Pablos presented the SAAM Project in one of his workshops, she did not hesitate to volunteer to take the opportunity to practice and gain experience in this field. She is passionate about languages, so she considers the SAAM Project an ideal opportunity to put her language skills into practice while helping to make audiovisual content more inclusive and accessible. 

  • Paula Bregón

    Paula is a fourth-year student of Modern Languages and Translation at the University of Alcalá. Her hobbies include learning languages, watching series and movies, and playing video games, making audiovisual translation really appealing to her. Her native language is Spanish, and her secondary languages are English (C1), German (B1-B2), Korean (3B, equivalent to B1.2), and French (A2). When she heard about the SAAM Project, she was immediately interested as it allows her to practise audiovisual translation, which she wants to pursue in the future, while also helping different charities and communities. 

  • Rebecca Bremer

    Rebecca is a final-year student of Conference Interpreting. She studies in Cologne, Germany, but is currently spending a semester abroad at the University of Alcalá thanks to the Erasmus program. It was there that she first learned about audiovisual translation and the SAAM Project. She is eager to use her knowledge for the project and gain practical experience. She knows German, English, and Spanish. 

  • Rosario Velazquez

    Rosario has a bachelor's degree in Modern Languages and Translation from the University of Alcalá. After meeting Carlos at an audiovisual translation course, she decided to volunteer for the SAAM Project. Later, during the spring semester of 2025, she became a coordinator. She considers it an extremely enriching experience, and she has decided to continue collaborating to help make audiovisual materials accessible to everyone. 

  • Silvia Hernández

    Silvia is a fourth-year student of Modern Languages and Translation at the University of Alcalá. She would love to join the SAAM Project Volunteer team, as she believes it does very important social work in terms of inclusivity, and it is a good opportunity to improve her skills and gain experience as a translator. 

  • Teresa Rodríguez

    Teresa is studying her final year of Modern Languages and Translation at the University of Alcalá. She has always been very interested in languages and different cultures around the world. Apart from Spanish, she speaks English and German. She is also in her second year of Italian. She is eager to become part of the SAAM Project and is ready to take on any challenges that may arise. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies (especially musicals) and spending time with her family and friends. 

  • Adrián Belmonte

    Adrián holds a Degree in Translation and Interpreting (EN–ES, FR–ES). He studied at the Complutense University of Madrid and at KU Leuven in Brussels, and specialised in audiovisual translation and language technology. During his degree, he trained in subtitling and completed an internship at a translation agency in Madrid; he also worked as an interpreter at a Madrid film festival. He currently works as a documentation technician, applying his linguistic knowledge to manage and prepare content, and is interested in projects that help others while also allowing him to continue improving his subtitling skills.

  • Sara Rivera Tova

    Sara is a student from Universidad de Alcalá de Henares (Spain), currently in her fourth and last year of English Studies. She is passionate about languages and speaks Spanish, English, Italian, and French, though she plans on learning many other languages in the near future. She wants to partake in the SAAM Project not only to gain experience in skills such as proofreading, translating, and editing, but also to do as much as she can to ensure media is more accessible to everyone, regardless of their needs, making it more inclusive.

  • Olga Martínez Martín

    Olga is a student at the University of Alcalá and she’s currently doing a degree in English Studies. She’s always loved languages and helping people, and also her lifelong dream is to be an audiovisual translator, so when she learned of the SAAM project she was very happy and ran to learn everything she could about it. She thought the way this project helped and united people was beautiful and so she knew she wanted to be a part of it.

  • Henar Martín Pérez

    Henar is studying Modern Languages and Translation at the University of Alcalá. She has always been surrounded by different cultures and languages, which inspired her to become a translator. She got to know about the SAAM Project thanks to a workshop, and it has been 3 years since she became a volunteer. Henar loves knowing that she is actively helping people and social causes. She enjoys exploring the multiple areas of translation, but especially culture, languages, and marketing. Because of this, she will likely specialise in localisation. If you need her, you'll find her in a cozy corner of a café finishing a translation project (or, luckily, with a book if she is free) and having a latte. 

Université de Lorraine

  • Nasrine Abbas Abdou

    Nasrine is a student from Mayotte who is alternating between her first and second year of a degree in LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations), English and Spanish, at the University of Lorraine. She plans and hopes to work in the world of translation and interpreting. Learning languages has always been a passion for Nasrine, which is why she is eager to immerse herself in this project with the team. She believes that this experience through the SAAM project will be vital and is a good opportunity to understand the subtitling process while forging links in the linguistic community. Outside of school, she enjoys listening to music, watching wrestling and Formula 1, following fashion, reading from time to time, laughing, having fun, cooking and enjoying life with her family and friends! She would like to travel, build Lego sets, continue learning new languages and perfect her knowledge of LSF (French Sign Language).

  • Derya Arslan

    Derya is a third-year student studying for a degree in LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations), English, at the University of Lorraine. She is working towards teaching French to foreign learners. She joined the SAAM project to gain practical experience in the field of translation while supporting associations. In her spare time, she plays the flute in an orchestra, paints with gouache and watercolours as well as digitally, and is an avid reader, especially of fantasy novels.

  • Julia Axer

    Julia, an Erasmus student in her first year of a Master's degree, has chosen to perfect her French through immersion. She is participating in the SAAM project in order to gain initial experience in the field of subtitling, which interests her greatly. She enjoys Romance languages, art, travelling and nature.

  • Léandra Carpentier-Renaux

    Léandra is originally from Moselle. After obtaining her bachelor's degree in English Language, Literature and Culture at the University of Lorraine in Nancy, she moved on to another field. Nevertheless, she is still passionate about translation and always takes advantage of new opportunities in this field to progress. She has long been passionate about foreign languages and art. She is volunteering for the SAAM project for the third consecutive year because it allows her to maintain a connection with languages and get involved in a meaningful project. That is why, once again this year, she wishes to continue offering her assistance to the SAAM project and participate in fabulous translation and subtitling projects.

  • Claire Colson

    Claire is a first year English student of LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations) at the University of Lorraine and wants to become a translator. The SAAM Project is able to give her an opportunity to develop skills in the world of translation and subtitling, all by helping charities grow. During her free time, she loves to read, draw and play video games... all whilst cuddling her cat.

  • Ludivine Corby

    Ludivine is a first year student of Applied Foreign Languages in Nancy, France. She currently speaks 3 languages: French, English and Spanish. Recently, she began learning Italian. Ludivine enjoys learning new languages and being able to communicate with other people thanks to this. She joined SAAM for two reasons: for professional reasons because she wants to take the first steps into the world of translation and subtitling, and gain professional experience. But also for personal reasons as she likes the idea of being part of a group of students who are passionate about languages and heping charity organisations to reach a larger audience. She is not afraid of working as a team and is even happy to do so. Outside of the SAAM project, she is part of the assosication ESN Nancy, which is an association that helps Erasmus students in their daily life. She does not yet know in what field she would like to work in after her studies, so this project will introduce her to the daily routine of certain professions that might interest her. 

  • Amélie Crugnola

    Amélie is a second year English student at the University of Lorraine. She hoped to join the SAAM Project to gain skills in subtitling and translation, while helping charities or non-profit organisations. 

  • Caroline Damelincourt

    Caroline is in the second year of her Masters stuyding 'Anglophone Worlds' remotely as she lives in Montpellier and works as a social worker for vulnerable people. SAAM brought her a lot last year, so she is continuing the adventure with great enthusiasm!

  • Thomas Dantin

    Thomas is a third-year Common Law student at the University of Lorraine. He aspires to become an international business lawyer. Drawn to translation, he joined the SAAM project to tackle real-world cases and deepen his practice. This experience will allow him to acquire new skills in revision, terminology adaptation, and collaborative work, which will enhance his value in his future career.

  • Chiara Desforges

    Chiara is a in her second year studying LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations), English. English and linguistics have always fascinated her. She wants to pursue a Master's degree in translation after her Bachelor's and finds the SAAM project a good opportunity to learn more about this field. She believes this project will be useful for her career and is eager to improve her subtitling skills.

  • Aurélien Flieger

    Aurélien is a first-year undergraduate student of Arabic at the University of Lorraine. A lover of English and German, he decided to add another string to his bow to pursue his dream job as a translator. The SAAM project is an opportunity for him to connect with other students with the same passion. In life, Aurélien swears by TV series, with Doctor Who being the leading example.

  • Claire-Anaïs Floquet

    Claire-Anaïs is a first-year Master's student of Translation and Tourism (M2T) at the University of Lorraine in Nancy. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations), English, the previous year and hopes to one day become a freelance translator in the audiovisual field. Her working languages are French, English and Spanish. She is passionate about language learning and translation, but also about art in general in all its forms (music, film, drawing, etc.). For her, the SAAM project would be an opportunity to gain experience, particularly in subtitling, in a concrete and useful context.

  • Margaux Forveil

    Margaux is a first-year student in Applied Foreign Languages (LEA) at the University of Lorraine. She speaks fluent French and English and is also learning German, Spanish, and Korean. She volunteered to participate in the SAAM project because she loves languages and wanted to learn more about creating subtitles, being a big film fan and consumer of movies and series in their original language. She hopes to be useful by getting involved in this project and to acquire new skills while meeting other people passionate about languages.

  • Héloïse Gagnon

    Héloïse began to take an interest in hieroglyphics at primary school and developed a passion for languages, which led her to learn Nepalese and Japanese, among other languages. She is also an avid reader and takes film photographs. A native French speaker, her first immersion in England at the age of 20 laid the foundations of her English, and her many other travels solidified her knowledge and use of the language. Héloïse is in her first year of a Master's degree in English at the Université de Lorraine Nancy and is taking part in the SAAM project to put her translation skills at the service of associations and to help in any way she can, as well as learning more about the world around her.

  • Chloe Gajewski

    Chloé is a first year master degree student at the University of Lorraine, where she studies translation and tourism in English and Spanish. Being immersed in two cultures (Polish and French) since her youth, Chloé remains particularly interested in travelling and foreign languages.  She decided to join the SAAM Project as she would like to improve her comprehension of and learn more about the world of professional translation. As well as languages, she's also interested in photography and video games.

  • Marie Goasdoue

    Marie is in the second year of her degree in LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations) with a focus on English. She studies remotely at the University of Lorraine. After having lived in England for almost 6 years and having a great love for literature, she decided to carry on studying to pursue a career in teaching. She is passionate about the art of finding the right word and everything related to expression, imagination and translation. Joining SAAM is an opportunity for her to deepen and practise her relationship with words and translation. As a former volunteer at a community library in London, she is passionate about ensuring access to information for all and is delighted to be able to contribute to this cause.

  • Morgane Goncalves-Devaisne

    Morgane is in her first year of an English degree at the University of Lorraine. She was very interested in the SAAM project as it would enable her to develop her translation skills with a view to her dream career as a translator, and she has always been interested in the field of film and media. Her interests include drawing, video games, and watching films and series.

  • Lucile Gornet

    Lucile studied at the University of Lorraine for several years, first earning a bachelor's degree in psychology and then in applied foreign languages. Now pursuing a master's degree in European and international studies, she continues to use languages and develop her diverse skills. When she heard about the SAAM project, she didn't hesitate for long. Often in her room during her teenage years, subtitles enabled her to acquire the language skills she now has and to access a wide range of media. Now a volunteer for the SAAM project, she is eager to see how this adventure unfolds.

  • Clotilde Gougelin

    Clotilde gained her Bachelor's degree in LLCER Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations),English, in 2022 and Cultural Studies in 2025. She has been volunteering for the SAAM Project since 2022 and was a coordinator last year in 2024.

  • Zineb Hamou

    Zineb is currently studying for her Master's at the University of Lorraine. Her translation-focused degree is entitled Languages and Societies. She aspires to become a professional translator. Her bilingual (English–Spanish) Bachelor's degree is entitled Language, Literature and Culture. Zineb has always been fascinated by languages and diverse cultures. Her academic path allows her to connect her various passions: literature, interculturality, and audiovisual work. This is why she chose to join the SAAM Project — to gain valuable experience and to apply her knowledge wisely and effectively.

  • Yona Jusselme

    Yona is a second-year English undergraduate student at the University of Lorraine, following a translation-focused career to become an audiovisual translator. She decided to join the SAAM Project to gain experience in translation and subtitling within a more formal framework. In parallel, she enjoys drawing and is learning French Sign Language in her free time.

  • Amel Kebli

    Amel is in her third year and is studying LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations) at the University of Lorraine in Nancy. She has always wanted to become a translator after she has finished her studies. She has studied English for over 10 years, and Spanish for more than 3 years. Next, she would like to learn Japonese, German and lots of other languages. Becoming a volunteer and Intern for the SAAM project means that she has the opportunity to combine many things that are close to her heart, including translation and charity work. Outside of her studies, Amel likes video games, reading, music and walking in the forest. 

  • Yana Kovalchuk

    Yana is a third-year undergraduate student in the bilingual LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations) program at the University of Lorraine. Originally from Ukraine, she has a strong interest in translation and intercultural communication. She decided to join the SAAM Project to explore the world of subtitling and audiovisual translation, while helping make content accessible to a wider audience. Outside of her studies, she enjoys reading and making desserts.

  • Lisa Lavallée

    Lisa is French and currently studies at the University of Strasbourg. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Languages, Literatures and Foreign and Regional Civilizations, with a focus on English, and is now in her first year of a Master's program in Technical, Editorial and Audiovisual Translation. This is her third year as a volunteer for the SAAM Project, having greatly enjoyed her previous experiences. It also brings her closer to the world of translation and subtitling — a field in which she hopes to build her future career. Lisa speaks French, English and Italian, and has always been passionate about travel and discovering different cultures around the world. Outside of languages, Lisa is a musician and singer, and enjoys literature, writing poetry, and playing video games.

  • Lucie Lebon

    Lucie is a second-year undergraduate student in English LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations) and Information-Communication at the University of Lorraine. She is 20 years old and originally from Metz. She decided to join the SAAM Project because she is interested in communication, especially translation. She hopes to one day combine her knowledge of English and communication to work in the field of game design. Outside of her studies, she is passionate about drawing and writing.

  • Florine Leducq

    Florine is a third-year undergraduate student in the bilingual and bicultural program at the University of Lorraine. She mainly studies English and Russian, with Chinese as her third language. She decided to take part in the SAAM Project because she is following a translation track with the goal of becoming a translator, and she loves her subtitling courses. This opportunity gives her valuable experience while allowing her to enjoy translating and creating subtitles for associations. Outside of her studies, Florine enjoys spending time in nature and with her animals, crocheting and eating.

  • Emma Legardinier--Rodier

    Emma is a first year student doing a bachelor’s in English at the University of Lorraine. Outside of uni she’s learning French sign language, in hopes of becoming an interpreter. She participated in the SAAM project to familiarise herself with translation and subtitling with the goal of widening cultural access for deaf people and those with handicaps in general. She also likes writing texts, cooking and crocheting. 

  • Luna Sindia Lemee

    Luna Sindia is a third year student at University of Lorraine doing a bilingual bachelor’s. She would like to work as a literary or subtitle translator for movies and series. She’s passionate about arts such as literature, music, cinema, adores playing video games and studying languages and their cultures. She became interested in the SAAM project to learn more about subtitling, and to practice translating whilst contributing to helpful non-profit projects. 

  • Marie Loiseau

    Marie is a third-year student at the University of Lorraine on the translation and intercultural pathway of the LLCER (foreign and regional, languages, literatures and civilisations) bachelor’s. She wanted to join SAAM because it was an opportunity for her to experience subtitling for the first time and to practice her passion, which is translation. Her attraction to English movies and series also played a part in her participating in the SAAM project. She would like to become a literary translator and why not also have a job in subtitling. Outside of her studies, she loves writing amateur poems and texts that she would like to make into a collection. Video games also play an important part in her daily life and incidentally she is currently a voluntary translator to an independent game. Photography is also one of her childhood passions. 

  • Alexandra Mari

    Alexandra is a remote first year student at the university of Lorraine doing a bachelor's degree in English (LLCER : foreign and regional, languages, literatures and civilisations). She is also a full time legal aid. She wishes to expand and consolidate her knowledge in English and English culture and civilisation. She decided to participate in the SAAM project because she thinks that this can be a very rewarding experience. During her free time and for leisure she plays the guitar, takes care of her cat, cooks and spends time with her family and friends. 

  • Zahra Marques

    Zahra is a first-year student at University of Lorraine, currently she is doing a bachelor’s degree in English. She decided to participate in the SAAM project to gain experience in subtitling and translation, and to help the participating organisations. Outside of her studies she likes reading, RPG-action video games, fantasy, and has an affintiy for nature and animals. 

  • Selena Martin

    Selena Martin is a second-year Modern Languages student at the Université de Lorraine at the campus Lettres in Nancy. Originally from Longwy, she is Franco-Spanish and passionate about languages and foreign cultures, particularly Spanish cultures. French is her native language, she speaks Spanish fluently, English smoothly, and she also has some notions of Italian. She joined SAAM because she would like to expand her skillset and deepen her language and translation practices. Her main goal within the project is to get better in this field while contributing actively to the team activities, bringing her linguistic knowledge and her passion for intercultural exchanges.

  • Romane Mauperin

    Romane is in her second year of the English LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations) undergraduate, specializing in translation and interculturality, at the Université de Lorraine. In the future, she would like to become a translator / interpreter and create subtitles. She wanted to take part in the SAAM project to improve her translation skills, gain a first experience in subtitling, and most importantly contribute to making resources more accessible to others. Outside of classes, she really likes cinema, sports, and travelling. She has been doing taekwondo for a few years.

  • Timothée Monoré

    Timothée is a modern languages student with a passion for History with a capital H, and a particular interest in the history of food, especially savoury dishes. He is studying remotely in Nancy as he lives in Chartres, and spends his free time taking part in historical re-enactments and studying law and French as a foreign language, as he hopes to teach French abroad or become a diplomat after completing his future Master’s degree in languages. 

  • Ambre Muller

    Ambre is a third year student of English and Italian and hopes to become a translator, ideally a literary translator. She is passionate about foreign languages, literature, arts, and culture overall. She is taking part in the SAAM project in order to gain translation and subtitling skills, that could be valuable for the continuation of her studies and her professional aspirations.

  • Chloé Ndaya

    Chloé has always been passionate about languages. When she was younger, she would watch “Go Diego” and “Ni hao, Kai-Lan” which gave her some basis in English and Chinese. These basis grew and made her want to really learn these languages, which she does in her free time and at university. Today, Chloé is a third year student in LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations), English with a Chinese option and she dreams of becoming an audiovisual translator. The SAAM Project is for her a great opportunity to take her first steps into the translation profession. She loves art and dance, and travelling allows her to discover new cultures, which she especially likes.

  • Ezinne Nwodo

    Ezinne is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in English Studies at the University of Lorraine. Originally from Nigeria, she completed her undergraduate studies in French, reflecting her deep passion for languages. She is not only dedicated to her academic journey but also enjoys playing volleyball, which keeps her active and energized. Beyond her love for languages, she is passionate about empowering children, believing strongly in the power of education to transform lives. Her diverse interests and commitment to learning make her a vibrant member of the university community

  • Kyara Ouerghi

    Kyara is an 18 year old student in her first year of the Applied Foreign Languages undergraduate in English and Arabic. Being passionate about languages, cultures, and intercultural communication, she would like to develop her skills in order to later work in the translation or international relations fields. She chose to join the SAAM project to gain experience, improve her skills in the use of subtitling tools and contribute to making contents accessible to a wider audience. In her free time, Kyara likes to read, learn about new cultures, and draw.

  • Kyara Remmer

    Kyara is a second year student in English Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Cultures. She decided to become a volunteer for SAAM to gain experience in subtitling and translation, but also to improve her teamwork skills. In her free time, Kyara likes to read, listen to music, and watch movies, including musicals. She is passionate about travelling, has already visited 15 countries, and has lived in the USA for six months. Later, she dreams of becoming an English teacher for secondary education.

  • Malou Rigaudeau

    Malou is a French student at Science Po university in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, where she is studying for her Masters in international relations. She is interested in issues of cooperation, diplomacy and dialogue between cultures. Passionate about languages, she speaks French, English and Spanish, ans is learning Chinese and Arabic. She wants to join the SAAM Project so that she can discover a new way of working in a team and contribute to a project committed to inclusion and cultural diversity.

  • Lise Robert-Grandjean

    Lise is a second year student at the University of Lorraine, Nancy campus, where she studies Law and English. She is passionate about travel and has always been interested in other cultures, and wants to continue learning more about the world around her. That is why the SAAM Project seems perfect for her and her ambitions. 

  • Charlotte Roger

    Charlotte has lived in several French regions and is currently living in Saint-Malo. She has worked as a sport physiotherapist for eleven years. She is passionate about sport (particularly football, windsurfing and rowing), cinema, and reading. She has a natural interest in writing and translation.

  • Arthus Simonin

    Arthus is a third year student of Economic and Social Administration who changed courses after a year in a preparatory class for literary studies. He is 21 years old and has always lived in Nancy. He is enrolled in an advanced English class as part of his degree, which focuses on buisiness skills. Arthus joined SAAM because he would like to work for an international company in the future, and the translation project offered is an interesting experience to add to his CV. In his spare time, Arthus enjoys reading and watching films. His favourite authors are H. P. Lovecraft and the Comte de Lautréamont.

  • Noémie Talfournier

    Noémie is a third year student at the University of Lorraine where she studies a degree in English and Italian. She decided to join the SAAM Project to gain experience in subtitling anf translation. She loves cooking, travelling, and creative hobbies.

  • Anna Temiriazeva

    Anna studies Applied Foreign Languages and is currently studying a semester at the University of Newcastle in the UK. Originally from Russia, she continues to immerse herself in multicultural environments and discover new cultures. She is passionate about languages and the power they have to bring people together. She wants to join the SAAM Project not only to gain precious experience in translation and subtitling, but also to contribute to a mission that allows more media to be made accessible to speakers of other languages. 

  • Chloé Toussaint

    Chloé is a third year student at the University of Lorraine, France, where she studies English. In the future, she wants to become a translatr but she is unsure whether she would like to specialise in literary or audiovisual translation. She loves to read, watch TV series', and go walking. She joined the SAAM Project so that she could practice subtitling, which would be useful for her if she decides to specialise in that field. 

  • Andréanie Urie

    Andréa is in the first year of her Master's studying Anglophone Worlds. She wanted to change careers, so she went back to university. Her desire is to work with English which has been her passion since she was little. Who knows where all this will lead her.

  • Julie Vaernewyck

    Julie is a third-year student studying LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations), English, in Nancy. She entered the third year directly after completing a law degree. She decided to participate in the SAAM Project to improve her English and gain experience in translation. She wants to help make the media more accessible to everyone.

  • William Liber

    William is a third year LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations), Spanish, student at the University of Lorraine. He speaks fluent French, Creole and Spanish, he speaks basic Portuguese and he is proficient in English. He figured out what the SAAM Project was while talking to his professors. Moreover, he has always been interested in translating. Contributing to this project would be for him a special opportunity to put his skills and knowledge to good use and to strengthen them. 

  • Margaux Mauchauffée

    Margaux is currently in her last year of LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations) Studies, specifically in a bilingual and bicultural grade at the University of Lorraine (Nancy). She speaks French and is learning English as well as Spanish, and a little bit of French sign language. She discovered the SAAM Project thanks to one of her English teachers and immediately got curious. She would love to become a translator, which would allow her to constantly learn new vocabulary, new cultures and new fields of translation. Outside of school, she likes to spend time with her cat, watch TV shows and scroll on social media.

  • Elisa Carmier

    Elisa is currently in her last year of her undergraduate degree in LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations). Her working languages are French, English and Italian. Elisa also has some knowledge of Mandarin and is learning French Sign Language. She joined the SAAM project as a volunteer in 2024 to improve her translation skills and put them to good use in the audiovisual sector, but also to do her bit to help make media more accessible. She looks forward to being a part of the project again and gaining more experience in translation and subtitling. In her free time, Elisa loves travelling, baking, reading historical novels and listening to music of all kinds. 

  • Mélissa Abdelmoula

    Mélissa is currently a second-year LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations), English, student at Université de Lorraine. French is her mother tongue, she speaks English fluently and she also studies German and Arabic. She discovered the SAAM project thanks to a friend who had previously been a volunteer during her years as a student, which immensely inspired and motivated Mélissa to do the same. Translation as well as subtitling have always caught her interest and the possibility to acquire experience in these fields through the SAAM project is a huge chance for her. 

  • Esmagül Tutar

    Esmagül is in her third year of her bachelor’s at the University of Lorraine, studying Foreign and Regional Languages and Civilizations (Bicultural Spanish English). She has also been studying Arabic as a third language since her first year of bachelor to be able to understand the Middle East region. Through the Erasmus exchange program, she spent her fifth semester abroad in Spain. She is taking part in the SAAM Project to put her skills into the service of those who need it. She also chose this project because she would like to work in the world of diplomacy and multicultural exchange contexts.

  • Lison Colin

    Lison is in her third year as an LLCER (Foreigna and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations), English, student at University of Lorraine. She is studying English and Italian, used to learn Spanish and her mother tongue is French. After choosing a major in translation which presented different aspects such as creating subtitles, transcribing and even economics. She wanted to join the SAAM project to discover another way of translating. She just got back from University of Glagow where she was able to improve her fluency in English. She loved that experience as well as travelling, reading and watching movies.

  • William Beck

    William is a third-year student in LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Civilisations). He has been learning chinese since his first year at uni. He loves literature and drawing which he pursues during his free time. William is part of project SAAM, to get an idea of what would be a professional experience in the domain of languages and subtitling and also because he finds that adapting a document to make it more accessible is a commendable goal. After this licence he is aiming for a job in the domain of literary translation or in the book industry but is open to other professional experiences that life could throw at him.

  • Noémie Héberlé

    Noémie is in her third year of bachelor in Foreign and Regional Languages, Literature and Civilisations Bilingual-Bicultural at University of Lorraine (France). Noémie would like to gain experience in translation, a field that she has always been interested in. Hoping to become an audiovisual translator, this project is directly related to her professional goals. As well as translation, her other passions include pilates, writing and art.

  • Ahmed Dieng

    Ahmed is a third-year student in LLCER( English literature and civilizations. Originally from Senegal, he is fluent in Wolof in addition to French. He has a C1 level in English and a B1 level in Spanish. He has a strong interest in literature, which explains his desire to work later in the book industry, more specifically in the literary field. Ahmed wants to join  the SAAM project because he believes it would be the perfect opportunity for him to gain real experience in the profession of translation.

  • Alejandra Hernández

    Alejandra Hernández is a third-year Translation and Interpreting student at the University of Murcia, in Spain. She is currently taking part in the Erasmus programme, for which she chose the charming city of Heidelberg as her destination. There, she is brushing up on her German, one of her working languages alongside English and Spanish. At the age of 21, she demonstrates her passion for ensuring that access to clear information is a fundamental right through her involvement in volunteering and rigorous academic study. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, reading international literature and attending cultural events.

  • Blanca Conte

    Blanca is a 20-year-old Translation and Interpreting student who, in addition to specialising in English and German, also has additional knowledge of French. She has always been passionate about languages and discovering new cultures. She is currently looking forward to learning new subtitling techniques and gaining practical experience in audiovisual translation. Outside of university, Blanca enjoys watching films, reading and listening to music.

  • Elena López

    Elena studies Translation and Interpreting at Murcia University. She speaks Spanish, English and German, and is learning other languages. Apart from learning languages, in her free time she enjoys reading, listening to music and being creative. During her third year of university, she studied in Leipzig, Germany, which gave her the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and improve her German. Her interest in audiovisual translation and her desire to help others through it are what motivated her to take part in the project. She hopes that this experience will help her learn about the world of subtitling, as she would like to do this for a living in the future.

  • María José Martínez

    María José, originally from Lorca (Murcia), is a student of Translating and Interpreting in English and German. She is currently an Erasmus student in Krakow, Poland, where she is in her third year of the degree. She is passionate about communication: she loves meeting people, talking, socialising and travelling, as well as learning from new experiences, people and cultures. She has taken part in several Erasmus+ projects which have helped her to develop both professionally and personally and have allowed her to acquire a strong European awareness. In addition, she wishes to participate in the SAAM project to keep growing as a translator and to have the opportunity to delve deeper into the world of translation in a more professional way.

  • Maite Sicilia

    Maite is a 19-year-old student in her second year of Translation and Interpreting at Murcia University. Her working languages are English and French, although she would like to learn others such as Italian and Japanese. Ever since she was a child, she has loved languages and learning about new cultures. In her free time, you will find her reading, drawing, watching TV shows or playing video games. Her hobbies were precisely the reason she realised she wanted to be a translator, as she enjoyed translating the video games she played with her friends so they could understand them. When she heard about the SAAM project, she was immediately interested, since learning to subtitle is something that has always caught her attention and she thinks it is a great opportunity to gain professional experience.

  • Marian Caparrós

    Marian is a 19-year-old student currently in her second year of the Degree in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Murcia. She has always been very interested in languages, literature, and any activity that involves creativity. For this reason, in 2022 she took part in the Creative Writing Course at Libreta Mandarache, organized by the Mandarache Awards of Cartagena, her hometown. From a very young age, she knew that she wanted to dedicate herself to languages. As a result, she now holds several certifications in English, Latin, and Ancient Greek. She has studied English since the age of three and French since the age of eight, and in 2024 she began learning Italian. Marian is convinced that participating in the SAAM project will be very beneficial for her career as a translator, not only because it will allow her to gain professional experience, but also because it will give her the opportunity to meet more people who share the same passion.

  • Lucía Martínez

    Lucía is a third-year Translation and Interpreting student at the University of Murcia. Her working languages are French and English, and her mother tongue is Spanish. She is currently participating in the Erasmus+ programme at Sorbonne Université in Paris, where she will continue her training in order to develop her professional career in the field of translation. She is particularly interested in audiovisual translation, a field that brings together two of her greatest passions: the audiovisual world and languages. Through the SAAM project, she hopes to broaden her knowledge in this specialization, gain practical experience, and contribute to making high-quality translation accessible to everyone.

  • Isabel María Pérez

    Isa is a third-year student of Translation and Interpreting in Murcia (Spain). Her passion for languages (English, German and French) encouraged her to take part in the SAAM Project, where she intends to look further into the world of translation so as to find her true vocation. This project is considered to be the best way for her to learn new skills and gain valuable experience that can be useful in her career path.

  • Miriam Ayala Fernández

    Miriam is a 19-year-old Spanish girl from Cartagena (Spain). She is taking part in this wonderful project in the hopes it will help her to figure out what it is that defines her. She also hopes it will allow her to learn and test her knowledge, alongside supporting different initiatives and people. She is currently an undergraduate Translation and Interpreting student at the University of Murcia, and she is passionate about languages. Her working languages include Spanish (native), English and Italian. She is willing to learn and give her best and is excited to see what challenges the SAAM Project will bring.

  • Lucía García

    Lucía is a 21-year-old girl currently studying her third year of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Murcia (Spain). Her working languages include Spanish, English and German. Plus, she also has previous knowledge of French. She has always liked learning languages and finding out about different cultures. She usually spends her spare time reading, playing sport or being around her friends. She is a lively person and an enthusiastic learner —that's why she'd like to become a translator some day. She's pleased to join SAAM Project, as she believes it can broaden her knowledge on translation and will allow her to gain some experience in the field.

  • Gaia Montana

    Gaia is currently in her third year of a Translation and Interpreting degree at the University of Murcia. Originally from Italy, she moved to Spain three and a half years ago driven by her love for the Spanish language, which inspired her to pursue her studies there. She is deeply interested in music, languages, and translation. She mainly translates from French and Arabic into Spanish, and she also speaks Italian and English. Gaia is eager to become part of SAAM to further develop her skills, work within a team, and contribute in any way she can.

  • Alicia Fernández

    Alicia is a second-year student of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Murcia (Spain). She studies English, French and she has recently taken up German as well. She is passionate about learning languages, travelling, reading, listening to music and fashion. She joined the SAAM Project in order to explore a new field and contribute to something she truly likes, but also to belong to a community of students interested in translation and intercultural communication.

  • Ana Isabel Férnandez

    Anabel is a senior student of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Murcia. Her working languages include English and French, though she also knows a little Italian. She volunteered to join SAAM because she wants to gain further knowledge and experience in subtitling and audiovisual translation. In her free time, she enjoys singing, reading and travelling.

  • Paula Esteban

    Paula is a third-year student of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Murcia. At the moment, she is in South Korea as an exchange student to improve her fourth language, Korean. She also speaks Spanish, English and French. Her passion for translation stems from her love of knowledge and her desire to share it: thanks to languages and translation it's possible to approach cultures, spread stories and enable speech communities to grow together. For that reason, Paula wants to participate in SAAM: to translate, but above all to communicate, helping two cultures understand one another and thus facilitating exchange.

  • Justine C. Toledo

    Justine C. Toledo is a second-year student in theTranslation and Interpreting Degree at the University of Murcia, Spain. She has specialised in English and German, even though she also learns Korean during her free time. Since she was a child, she has developed a great interest in both national and international literature, being fascinated by the diverse cultures that are displayed. She is keen to join the SAAM Project because, in her view, lending someone in need a helping hand is a must if you are able to. If we all do our bit, people's quality of life will improve. Moreover, she considers that this experience is an excellent opportunity so as to develop her subtitling skills and to connect with people from all around the world through language, communication and intercultural empathy.

  • Rocío del Carmen Mateo

    Rocío Mateo is a student for the third year of the degree of Translation and Interpretation at the University of Murcia. She studies English and Italian, and languages are a big passion for her. During her free time, she occupies herself with different ways of art which involve words. Rocío decides to take part in the SAAM’s team to acquire experience and increase her knowledge in audiovisual translation. In the future she would like to be specialized in that area.

  • Alba Garri

    Alba is studying Translation and Interpreting at the University of Murcia. She has always been deeply interested in languages, literature and all the different cultures around the globe. Beside Spanish, her working languages include English and Italian. When she first heard of SAAM Project, she saw it as an exceptional opportunity to take part in a rewarding experience and to gain further insight into the world of translation.

  • Amara Asebech Garzón

    Amara is a 19 year-old Spanish woman that is currently in her first year of Translation and Interpreting (English-Spanish) at the University of Murcia. She has decided to join SAAM in order to enter the world of subtitling, with the aim of assessing whether this is something she would like to do in the future. She has previously participated in volunteering projects and is excited about the idea of getting involved in one that combines languages with solidarity. In addition to her studies, Amara devotes time to basketball, reading, music, and sharing moments with her friends and partner.

  • María Rubio

    María is a first-year student in the French Translation and Interpreting Degree at the University of Murcia, Spain. She considers herself a curious person that is eager to learn about the audiovisual field. The SAAM Project will enable her to intertwine her language passion and the production of AV projects. For her, SAAM is a great opportunity so as to deepen into the translation and subtitling work, developing this way her skills in group work and professional experience.

  • Julia López

    Julia López is a first-year student from Murcia, Spain. She is studying Translation and Interpreting at the University of Murcia and speaks four languages: she is fluent in English and Spanish, and has a basic knowledge of German and Japanese. She decided to join SAAM because she sees it as an opportunity to practise teamwork at a professional level and because she finds audiovisual translation and subtitling a very interesting field to explore. In her spare time, she loves exercising and performing in local theatres.

  • Carla Blanes

    Carla is a 20-year-old woman who is currently in her third year of Translation and Interpreting, specialising in English and German. She is from La Vega Baja, Alicante, which is why Valencian gradually introduced her to the world of languages from a young age – a world she later fell completely in love with, along with English. She has always known that her place was in the Humanities field, so it's only natural that reading would be one of her hobbies. She is very excited to be part of this project, as she believes it will help her learn and benefit her future career as a translator.

  • Lucía Pérez

    Lucía is a Translation and Interpreting student who is passionate about languages. She works mainly with Spanish and English, but she also has knowledge of French and Arabic, and is always willing to learn new languages. Besides her interest in history, she enjoys travelling and exploring new cultures through music, literature, and film. She believes this project offers an excellent opportunity to gain new experiences and develop professional skills.

  • Sara Bermejo

    Sara is a 20-year-old Translation and Interpreting student specialising in English and French, though she has always been passionate about exploring other languages. Since she first heard of the SAAM project, she saw it as an opportunity to experiment with subtitling, while contributing to a more inclusive environment. In her free time, you will find her watching series or films, reading, crafting or listening to music.

  • Blanca Pereira

    Blanca is a Translation and Interpreting student, studying English and Italian at the Unversity of Murcia. She has always loved languages and cultures, especially learning about them through cinema and TV series. This is how she knows that she would like to become an audiovisual translator. When she first heard about the SAAM project, she thought it would be the perfect opportunity to combine learning and social engagement in helping to make content accessible for all. Particiapting in this initiative allows her to not only grow as a translatoe, but to also help in breaking down language barriers. 

  • Pedro José Zambudio

    Pedro is 24 years old and in the fourth year of his degree in Translation and Interpreting. He workds with English and French, but would love to learn other languages such as Arabic. Last year, he studied in France as part of the Erasmus program, where he really improved his French. He joined the SAAM project because he thinks the project does a great job in helping people and he would like to work in a similar field in the future. Besides all of this, he likes music (especially rap and rock) and sports (chess, football and cycling). 

  • Alejandra Mediano

    Alejandra is studying Translation and Interpreting (English and French) at the University of Murica. This year, however, she is taking part in an Erasmus exchange programme in Kraków. What she enjoys the most about her degree is having the opportunity to connect different cultures and lifestyles. She decided to join SAAM because it gives her the chance to explore one of the areas of translation that she is most interested in and to gain experience whilst learning abut a new industry.

  • Alicia López

    Alicia López Ibernón is a second-year Translation and Interpreting student at the University of Murcia, focusing on English as her second language and German as her third. She is particularly interested in audiovisual translation, which is why she decided to join the SAAM project. Through this experience, she hopes to gain a deeper understanding of the field of subtitling and continue to develop her skills as a future translation professional.

  • Laura Erreis

    Laura is a third-year student in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Murcia, in Spain. She comes from Lorca, a village in that same city, and decided she wanted to take part in SAAM because she's interested in the world of audiovisual translation and wants to gain experience subtitling, doing teamwork and collaborating in a variety of projects. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, watching films and playing videogames.

  • Marta Sánchez

    Marta is passionate about film, painting, dance, music and art in general. She also loves languages, as she believes they are essential for social interaction. That's why she is studying a Translation and Interpreting degree at UMU, specifically studying English and Arabic. She also knows a bit of French but would like to keep learning languages forever. She has always wanted to do some voluntary work, so this is the perfect opportunity for her, as it's about something she absolutely loves. She hopes to be able to help lots of people!

  • Belén Guillén

    Belén is a third-year student in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Murcia, in Spain. She has always been passionate about discovering new cultures and places, which is why languages are the cornerstone for both her education and her life. She has spoken English for as long as she can remember and expresses herself in fluent French, not to forget she has been learning German since she started her degree. Furthermore, Belén is a music enthusiast who loves traveling, reading, and cinema, although sport is the most important activity in her life. She is really looking forward to participating in this project so that she can contribute as much as possible, learn from her peers, and expand her knowledge.

  • María Cánovas

    At 20 years old, she represents a unique combination of academic discipline and social commitment. With a solid foundation after completing her A-Levels in Science, her education moved toward the arts, establishing herself as a music teacher, a role she is currently working in.

    However, her true goal is to break down linguistic barriers. This is why she is currently studying Translation and Interpreting, focusing all her potential on becoming a leading interpreter. In addition to her academic profile, she is very active in social and political movements, demonstrating great energy and a firm desire to transform her environment through communication and activism.

  • Lorena Stoica

    She is 21 years old and she is studying Translation and Interpreting at the University of Murcia. She has been bilingual since she was 3 years old since she moved from Romania to Spain. She is passionate about learning languages, travelling and discovering new cultures. Currently, she speaks Spanish, Romanian, English, German and a bit of French. She is keen on audiovisual translation, that's the reason she wants to volunteer in the SAAM Project. She believes that this is a good opportunity for her to learn more about the process and to gain some experience.

  • Antonio Martínez

    Having studied humanities in school, Antonio chose to study translation out of his love for foreign languages. He studies translation and interpreting at the University of Murcia. He wanted to volunteer with the SAAM project in order to gain work experience and because he liked the project and felt that it aligned with his values.

  • Laura Martínez

    Laura Martínez Girona is a first-year student of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Murcia, Spain. She is fluent in English, Spanish and Valenciano/Catalan, and is currently learning German. She joined the SAAM project because she finds it a very interesting initiative that will allow her to start taking on tasks related to her future profession and gain confidence in subtitling. Above all, she is excited about helping organisations and NGOs, as well as sharing the experience with other students interested in the same field.

  • Ainara Ruiz

    Ainara is a student from Bilbao, Spain. She is in her fourth year of Modern Languages and speaks five languages: English, Spanish, and Basque fluently, as well as French and Chinese at a basic level. She joined the SAAM Project in 2024 during her Erasmus year in the United Kingdom with the aim of helping NGOs reach a wider audience. The experience was so enriching that she has decided to join SAAM for another year in order to keep collaborating with this small community of translators and future linguists who have shown her so much support and kindness.

  • Aitana Mingot Lapiedra

    Aitana is doing her last year of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Alicante. She studies English, Spanish, and French, and joined the SAAM Project because she believes it is an opportunity to use her knowledge to contribute to including the deaf community in the media, while also learning more about the audiovisual and professional world.

  • Alejandra García Segura

    Alejandra is a fourth-year Translation and Interpreting student who specializes in English, Spanish, and French. She is passionate about languages and intercultural communication, and in the future she would like to work teaching English and Spanish. She takes part in the SAAM Project to broaden her training and gain experience in the field of audiovisual translation. She also sees this initiative as an opportunity to collaborate with organizations and therefore promote greater accessibility and inclusion in the media.

  • Amanda Giménez López

    Amanda is in her fourth year of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Alicante, and her working languages are English, Catalan, Italian, and German. She takes part in the SAAM Project because she believes that it is a great opportunity to get in touch with the world of audiovisual translation, a field she finds appealing for her future career. In addition, she sees it as a dynamic way to gain experience and learn from her peers.

  • Carmen Cruzado Gil

    Carmen is a fourth-year Translation and Interpreting student at the University of Alicante. She's a native Spanish speaker, but she also works with English, French, and Italian. She wants to be part of the SAAM Project because she has a strong interest in audiovisual and accessible translation, and she would love to learn more about how the subtitling and editing process works. Besides, she believes it is a great opportunity to meet people who share an interest in this field and to help organizations in need.

  • Carolina Álvarez Vera

    Carolina is finishing her degree in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Alicante. The languages she works with are Spanish, English, and Japanese. She loves reading and consuming audiovisual content including video games, series, and animated films, as well as YouTube content about books and other topics. She would like to learn more about accessibility, particularly in the field of audiovisual production, through audio description or subtitling for deaf and hard-of-hearing . The SAAM Project seems to her like a great opportunity not only to fulfill this purpose, but to meet other translators with whom she can broaden her perspective on translation and accessibility through different cultures and interests, too.

  • Duna Martínez Carchano

    Duna is a student of the Translation and Interpreting degree offered by the University of Alicante. Driven by her curiosity about the project and her wish to broaden her horizons, she accepted the proposal. In addition to languages and translation, she is passionate about music. She decided to join the project due to its charitable nature and to further develop her experience in the translation field. Moreover, she sees it as an opportunity to improve her linguistic and social skills and knowledge.

  • Elena Vela

    Elena is a final-year student of the Degree in English Translation and Interpreting at the University of Alicante. Throughout her studies, she has focused primarily on English and French, while also acquiring some knowledge on Chinese. She would like to be part of the SAAM Project because she considers it a good opportunity to develop her subtitling skills, work as part of a team, and expand her knowledge in this field, as well as to explore new ways of learning and growing professionally. In the future, she would like to work in the translation field, although she has not yet decided which area of expertise to pursue. In her free time, she enjoys discovering new films and series, listening to music, practicing sports, and spending time with her friends and family.

  • Emma Blasco Royo

    Emma is a final year English Language and Literature student at the University of Zaragoza in Spain. She has completed an Erasmus programme at the University of East Anglia. She joined the SAAM Project because she is interested in translation and participating in it would be a great opportunity to learn new skills that she can use later in her career. In her free time, she enjoys travelling and spending time with her friends and family.

  • Eva Canals Serrano

    Eva is a fourth year Spanish student studying Translation and Interpreting at the University of Alicante. During her studies, she has learned English, German, and Chinese, and she is a native speaker of Catalan. She has also taught herself Italian, reflecting her passion for languages. Her professional dream is to become a teacher and help others learn languages. She wants to participate in the SAAM project because she would love to learn how the world of subtitling works and considers it a great opportunity to help more people access diverse audiovisual content. Although her hobbies are reading and spending time with her loved ones, what motivates her most is learning new things about new languages and cultures.

  • Helena García

    Helena is in the fourth year of her Translation and Interpreting degree at the University of Alicante, where she studies English, French and Chinese. She has always had a great passion for cinema, reading and the world of translation, so her goal is to become an audiovisual and literary translator. She decided to join the SAAM Project because she considers it a perfect opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of audiovisual translation and collaborate with an international team of future language professionals. SAAM will allow her to combine her personal interests with her professional vocation, while contributing her grain of sand to a project with a real impact on the community.

  • María Campoy Verdú

    María is currently in her last year of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Alicante in Spain. She wants to take part in the SAAM Project because she believes it will help strengthen her academic development. She also considers that this is the perfect opportunity to broaden her knowledge about audiovisual translation, a type of translation she finds interesting due to her love for film.

  • Marina Mallol Biosca

    Marina is a student from Alicante, Spain. There, she is currently doing her fourth year of Translation and Interpreting with English-Spanish as her main language combination. However, she also studies French and Romanian, and, despite not studying it at university, she speaks Catalan at a native’s level. The SAAM Project piqued her interest because it’s the perfect opportunity to practice what she has learned about audiovisual translation and to continue learning more about this field. She is a great film enthusiast, that's why audiovisual translation is one of her main professional interests. Nonetheless, she hopes that with this project she can help organizations make their content more accessible and  develop her teamwork skills.

  • Patricia Fernández Terol

    Patricia is a last-year university student who is studying Translation and Interpreting at the University of Alicante. The main languages she speaks are English, Japanese, and German. She is passionate about audiovisual translation, especially about subtitling and video game localisation. That’s why she joined SAAM, where she hopes to help and work in a team as she continues to learn in order to become a professional translator in the future.

  • Renzo Palomino

    Renzo is from Peru, but he has been living in Spain for more than 20 years. He is currently doing his fourth year of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Alicante. He is interested in continuing to develop his skills as a translator/interpreter, as well as to expand his knowledge in any type of audiovisual translation. He would also like to gain knowledge in other fields, for example sound in audiovisual content. The SAAM Project will allow him to practice what he learned in Audiovisual Translation, to improve other abilities, such as teamwork, and, of course, to make audiovisual productions more accessible to people with special needs. Additionally, Renzo is convinced that this project is an opportunity to gain self-confidence, and to grow both academically and personally. In his free time, he enjoys playing the guitar, subtitling songs, and creating educational content about translation on Instagram.

  • Almudena Rosati Moreno

    Almudena Rosati Moreno is a Translation and Interpreting student at Universidad de Alicante. She decided to study this degree because, even though she has never been good with languages, she has always been fascinated by them. During year 11, a teacher mentioned this degree to her and she knew that this is what she wanted to do in life. She didn't think it twice either when she decided her language combination: she loved French, English was really useful and Italian made her close to her roots. Even though she never was taught italian at home, her grandfather from her dad's side was italian.

  • Manuel Jesús Bernabeu Pacheco

    Manuel is a third year Translation and Interpreting student. He speaks Spanish, English, German and is now learning Arabic. He is currently studying in Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg as part of the Erasmus Programme. He decided to get involved in the SAAM Project to experience what it is like to work in a team with other translators.

  • Arantxa Lorenzo Gómez

    Arantxa is a third-year student studying a Bachelor’s Degree in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Alicante. She speaks Spanish (native), Catalan (B2), English (C1), German (B1) and Italian (A2). She is currently an Erasmus student at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany.

  • Camila Pizarro Álvarez

    Camila is a translator and studies at the University of Alicante, in her second year, loves to help out good causes and to integrate her passion with this service.

  • Miriam Mas Adsuar

    Miriam Mas Adsuar is a second-year student of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Alicante (Spain). Her academic training focuses on intercultural communication, multilingual mediation, and linguistic precision. She has a strong interest in socially engaged language work and the role of communication in supporting vulnerable communities. She is particularly motivated to volunteer with the SAAM Project because she believes in the importance of accessible, survivor-centred communication and wishes to contribute her linguistic skills to initiatives that promote awareness, dignity, and social impact.

  • Eunice Torres Santonja

    Eunice is a second-year student at the University of Alicante in Translation and Interpretation Studies. She went to a French lycée from the age of three until graduation, before joining the prestigious college Sciences Po Bordeaux. After a year learning about international affairs, she decided to follow her passion of learning languages. Eunice has always pursued excellence, as proved by the rare and honorific French scholarship Bourse d'Excellence and her diverse language certifications.

    The SAAM Project presents itself to her as the perfect opportunity to continue working, not only for her dreams this time, but for those in need of a trustworthy vehicle from one language into another.

  • Rebecca del Carmen Mejías Wang

    Rebecca comes from a Spanish-Chinese background and was born in the Canary Islands. She chose to pursue a degree in Translation and Interpreting at University of Alicante and is fluent in Spanish, Chinese, and English, with a good command of French. In her spare time, she enjoys watching Hitchcock's cinematography and reading. Her decision to join SAAM stemmed from its combination of her two major interests: translation and audiovisual media.

  • Dana Aleixandre Pascual

    Dana is a second-year Translation and Interpreting student at the University of Alicante (UA), where she devotes her time to learning English, German, and recently Arabic as well. Moreover, her mother tongues are Catalan and Spanish. Her main interests are reading and watching films; in fact, a self-confessed movie geek. That is why Dana is eager to join this community: not only because she hopes to pursue a career in this field of work, but to share her passion with other passionate fellows.

  • Lidia Serrano Pascual

    Lidia is currently studying Translation and Interpreting mainly in German, Spanish and English in the University of Alicante (UA). Although her mother tongue is Catalan, she has also studied French for many years, which she has consolidated thanks to countless rom-coms and many subtitles. Based on her experience, she loves helping people through words and the audiovisual field, especially dubbing and subtitling. Therefore, she is highly motivated to join the SAAM project, as it would provide her with the opportunity to make compelling cinematic works accessible to the Deaf community and to diverse audiences across cultures.

  • Gemma Cáceres García

    Gemma is a Translation and Interpreting student at Universidad de Alicante. She works mainly with English, Spanish and French, but she is also a native speaker of Catalan and has studied Italian during the degree. She studied her Erasmus semester at UEA, where she was a volunteer for SAAM Project. This allowed her to enhance her audiovisual translation skills and delve into the audiovisual world, as she loves cinema. She enjoyed time at SAAM and se wanted to keep volunteering for it, so when she came back to Alicante she decided to be a coordinator for SAAM Project at her univeristy and prove herself and her project coordinator abilities.
