AUTUMN 2024–SPRING 2025

Soeli is a part-time student at UEA studying her MA in Applied Translation Studies. She completed her undergraduate at the University of Nottingham where she studied Modern Languages and Translation (French and Spanish). Her degree has allowed her to visit and live in France and Spain, working in a nursery and a translation company. Soeli is passionate about languages and translation, and along with working as an intern for the SAAM project, she also volunteers as a French to English translator for the website WatchingAmerica. Soeli wanted to be part of the SAAM project because she thoroughly enjoyed the subtitling and dubbing module that she undertook in her undergraduate, and she knows that subtitling, translation, and/or project management is the career route that she would like to go down in the future, so working with SAAM will give her a chance to gain experience in this field. 

AUTUMN 2024 - SPRING 2026

Lola is a Master's student studying Applied Translation Studies at UEA, with an academic and professional background in Law. Her passion for languages and linguistics is derived from her love for the Mediterranean culture, and intercultural communication. Outside of study, work and volunteering, Lola (mostly) enjoys running and exploring new places!  As one of the Project Coordinators for the project at UEA, Lola is excited to dive into the tasks and to work alongside the volunteers and coordinators across the partner universities, to ultimately serve our clients to the best of our abilities.

AUTUMN 2024 - SPRING 2026

Jake is a fourth-year undergraduate student studying Japanese, Translation and Media, having just returned from a year studying at Kansai University in Japan. His ambition upon graduating is to be able to find a job working as a translator in the video game industry, although he also has a love for linguistics, and particularly etymology. As one of the coordinators for the SAAM Project at UEA, Jake hopes to gain practical experience in the audiovisual media field, and to work with everyone else in the project to deliver the best possible results to the organisations we work with, and hopefully expand the project's reach even further.

SPRING 2026

Lidia is in her final year of a Translation and Modern Languages degree at UAH. While her core focus is on English, French, and Spanish, she also has a background in German and Italian. Her main interest lies in audiovisual translation, as she values the blend of technical skill and creative commitment found in subtitling and dubbing. After a year abroad at Sorbonne Université in Paris, Lidia developed a keen awareness of how vital information accessibility is today. Languages are central to who she is, and her desire to share this passion for communication has driven her to become a coordinator for the SAAM project.

SPRING 2026

Adelina is in her final year of Modern Languages and Translation at the University of Alcalá. She has studied both English and French, but she can only communicate in English. She also has a basic knowledge of Romanian. Adelina got interested in audiovisual translation while on Erasmus at Dublin City University, where she studied Audiovisual Translation. The following year, she studied it again, but this time at the UAH. She learned about the SAAM Project thanks to an online course taught by Carlos de Pablos-Ortega. She then signed up for the project as a coordinator to do her internship. 

AUTUMN 2025

Gemma is a Translation and Interpreting student at Universidad de Alicante. She works mainly with English, Spanish and French, but she is also a native speaker of Catalan and has studied Italian during the degree. She studied her Erasmus semester at UEA, where she was a volunteer for SAAM Project. This allowed her to enhance her audiovisual translation skills and delve into the audiovisual world, as she loves cinema. She enjoyed time at SAAM and se wanted to keep volunteering for it, so when she came back to Alicante she decided to be a coordinator for SAAM Project at her univeristy and prove herself and her project coordinator abilities.

SPRING 2026

Marion is in the final year of her Master's Degree in translation at the Université de Lorraine in Nancy in France. She studied English, Spanish, Dutch and German. She is passionate about foreign languages and cultures since her childhood. That's why she naturally chose to study translation which allows communication between different languages and cultures. She was a volunteer for the SAAM Project before becoming a coordinator. Participating in this project allows her to combine her passion for languages and helping NGOs reach a larger audience. 

SPRING 2026

Currently, Lucie is in her second and final year of the Master’s Degree “Métiers du Tourisme, Métiers de la Traduction”, in the translation course in Nancy, Lucie has been studying languages, and especially English and German, for her entire stay in university.
Initially, only a French-speaker, she developed her knowledge and capacities in English and intercultural communication on the internet with various worldwide communities, which helped her sharpen her skills in foreign language communication.
She has always been interested in History, zoology and animals in general, video games, and artistic activities such as drawing and writing. Her wish to share her passions with others and to make communication easier between people has led her to pursue translation as her main professional project.
Through her studies, she has also discovered the audiovisual world and, most importantly, subtitling, whether interlingual or intralingual. Since then, she has been interested in this practice alongside translation. This is what led her to lend a hand to the SAAM Project, as she wanted to increase her experience working with different kinds of media, like videos, for translation, but also work on her leadership, managing, and planning skills as a coordinator.

SPRING 2026

Imane is a master's degree student in her final year in Translation and Tourism at Université de Lorraine in Nancy, France. Her languages of expertise (Italian and English) and her bilingual French and Arabic background have turned her translation skills into a rich and authentic experience. She believes she will be a good SAAM Project coordinator for Spring 2026 as an intern, thanks to her work experience with SAAM as a volunteer since October 2023. Through this unique opportunity, Imane aspires to deepen her audiovisual translation skills and develop new skills, such as in management. On a personal level, she is interested in personal development and passionate about photography and writing.

Alizée is a third-year student of foreign languages, literature, and civilisation in English and Italian in Nancy. This is her second year as a volunteer for the SAAM Project. During the first semester of this year, she is also a project coordinator for the Université de Lorraine. She hopes that this project will be her first enriching experience in translation and subtitling, and that her coordinator role will help her develop team management competencies. Outside of study, she practices rock climbing, and she enjoys travelling and cooking.

She is currently taking part in the Erasmus programme, for which she chose the charming city of Heidelberg as her destination. There, she is brushing up on her German, one of her working languages alongside English and Spanish. At the age of 21, she demonstrates her passion for ensuring that access to clear information is a fundamental right through her involvement in volunteering and rigorous academic study. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, reading international literature and attending cultural events.
